Chris (Doc) graduated with his B.S. in Chemistry and Biology in 1985 from Iowa Wesleyan College, then from Iowa State University in 1990 with his DVM. Doc worked as a veterinarian for the Monona clinic for 6 years, Waukon for 8 years, and then his own clinic in Waterville for 6 years. He has been at NICC since 2002 and teaches courses in Anatomy and Physiology, Animal Health, Animal Reproduction and Nutrition. He and his wife Nancy reside in Waterville, Iowa and also run a small crop farm. Doc’s three children Amy, Jacob and Katherine are grown and pursuing higher education.

Tad Mueller

Fort Atkinson, IA

Tad obtained both his B.S. and M.S. in Agricultural Education from Iowa State University in 1981 and 1991. He then taught ag education at Audubon High School for 6 years, Cresco High School for 5 years, and then joined the NICC staff in 1992. Tad teaches courses in Agronomy, Grain and Forage and Precision Ag (GPS and GIS). Tad’s wife Lisa also teaches at NICC and they have a son named Luke. In addition, Tad owns and maintains a small vineyard.

Dave Lawstuen

Dave Lawstuen

Lanesboro, MN

Dave has his B.S. in Animal Science and M.S. in Dairy Cattle Breeding and Genetics with a minor in Statistics from the University of Minnesota. Prior to coming to NICC in 1995 Dave worked as the Director of Sire Procurement for Eastern/Federated Genetics in Ithaca, NY for 9 years. He teaches courses in Genetics, Dairy Production and Animal Science. Dave is originally from a registered Holstein herd in Lanesboro, Minnesota where he now resides and operates the century family farm with his wife Debbie and two children Kirstin and Kyle.
