Iowa's Dairy Center is not only a working farm, but a tourism facility where you can learn about modern dairy farming. Please call to set-up tour arrangements.
On your tour you will see:
- Milking Parlor
- Robotic milking system
- Freestall Barn for housing of cows
- Transition Barn for calving (may see a calf being born)
- Calf Barn (pet a calf)
- Iowa's Dairy Museum (play the milk cart quiz)
- Make homemade ice cream (must be requested)
The unique dairy farm features a milking parlor system where 140 cows are milked three times daily, 4 a.m., Noon and 8 p.m. Also, since December of 2013 two robotic milking units were installed to milk the remaining 125 cows. The viewing platforms for these milking systems are open 24-hours a day. Stop by and see the cows getting milked anytime.
Donating or becoming a member are both great ways to support what we do here. Contact the Dairy Center Coordinator at 563.534.9957, ext. 107 for more information.
We are located just south of Calmar at 1527 Highway 150 South.
